Welcome Kindergarten Families!

Hello and congratulations on having a kindergartner! You are in for a great journey as your student starts school at Maple.

Here are a few things of note as you get ready for the school year:

  • Aug 21st - Orientation from 9am-12pm, lunch provided from 12-1pm. Learn more here.

  • Sept. 9th - First Day of School for Kindergarten: While all other grades (1st -5th ) start on Sept 4th , this delayed start will give your family an opportunity to privately conference with your child’s teacher before Kindergarten begins.

  • Sept 9th - First Day Meet & Greet: Join other parents immediately following first day drop-off in the cafeteria for coffee, donuts and a chat with our Principal Ms. Christy Bowman-White & Vice Principals Daisy Barragan & Mason Skeffington.

  • Sept 19th 6-8pm - Curriculum Night: Meet other Maple families and faculty; hear about school programs including the arts, PE & STEM. Get information on how you can volunteer your time and help strengthen our school community.

  • October 24 th 6-7:30pm - Multi-Cultural Night: Join families in the cafeteria and share a dish together. This pot luck is a celebration Maple’s vibrant diversity as the 2019-2020 school year gets underway.

Resources:

  • Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) Newsletter: This comprehensive publication includes information on upcoming events, community concerns affecting our school as well as opportunities for family engagement and volunteering. It is distributed each month via email and “kid mail” (sent home in your child’s class folder).

  • PTSA Website: https://www.mapleptsa.com, visit to sign up to receive PTSA emails.

  • PTSA Facebook Group: While you will receive updates via PTSA emails, the PTSA Facebook Group is a great resource to stay connected with families.

  • Kindergarten FAQ: Read more about what you can expect during your first year at Maple here.

Your help is always valued; volunteering for monitoring recess, chaperoning field trips, helping at various after school events as well as in the classroom is encouraged. Check out signupgenius.com and enter the email address mapleptsa@gmail.com to search opportunities.

Consider joining the PTSA and/or attend meetings for in-depth discussions with other interested parents and faculty regarding issues affecting Maple faculty, families and student body. PTSA meetings are the second Tuesday of each month from 6:30 to 8pm in the Staff Lounge in Building B.

We look forward to meeting you! Sincerely, Maple PTSA
